Semi-protected edit request: Shearer appointment date wrong
[edit]The article implies that Alan Shearer took over from Joe Kinnear in February 2009:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newcastle_United_F.C.#Decline_and_relegation
"Former Wimbledon manager Joe Kinnear was appointed as his replacement,[29] but in February 2009, due to his heart surgery, Alan Shearer was appointed interim manager in his absence"
In fact, Shearer wasn't appointed until April 2009 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7975700.stm)
Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood took charge between Kinnear and Hughton (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7876467.stm)
Please can someone with permission correct this?
Controverisies section?
[edit]Would it be worth it to have a section for the reaction to the saudi takeover? like the human rights stuff etc? Hbatey1105 (talk) 21:29, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- No Philgeordie1 (talk) 01:35, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- I'd say yes. The purchase of Newcastle sparked alot of outrage, especially amongst other clubs' fanbases. 2A00:23C6:C18C:AA01:856B:8959:B0AC:3B51 (talk) 14:22, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Founding date - 1892 is not correct
[edit]It is a well known myth that Newcastle East End and West End merged to create Newcastle united. The actual truth is West End ran into financial difficulties and dissolved. I believe it is important that the founding date is shown as "1881 - As Stanley FC."

- Newcastle United were founded in 1892. Hence this season they made a special 130 year shirt Philgeordie1 (talk) 01:34, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
Cr7 to Newcastle
[edit]Cr7 might join Newcastle F.C. on loan because AL Nassr sends money to Newcastle plus there qualifying to the UCL and Cr7 said he will end his career at europe. Harsh1boo (talk) 01:38, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- This was not true. There have been no discussions regarding CR7 Philgeordie1 (talk) 01:33, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
